Shattered Ceramic Shield: Wireless Charging Interrupted
Problem
The customer's iPhone 16 Pro Max sustained a drop, resulting in a shattered Ceramic Shield front glass. Diagnostic revealed not only cosmetic damage but also intermittent wireless charging. Analysis showed micro-fractures in the glass had caused a subtle misalignment and partial damage to the MagSafe charging coil array beneath, impacting power delivery efficiency and thermal regulation.
Fix Applied
Repair initiated with careful application of 85°C heat to the iPhone 16 Pro Max display assembly, crucial for safe separation of the harder Ceramic Shield glass. The damaged screen was removed, and the MagSafe coil array meticulously inspected. A new, genuine display assembly was installed, ensuring precise alignment of the wireless charging coil. Post-installation, the device was resealed and calibrated.
Result
The iPhone 16 Pro Max's display was restored to factory condition. Wireless charging functionality was fully verified, showing consistent power transfer with no thermal anomalies. A 12-month warranty was provided on the replacement part and labour.
